A Message from Dutchbopper

It's been a while since I published a post on my Blog. As a matter of fact, my last post was in december 2020. The reason is simple. It's a lot of work creating interesting posts and the rewards are meagre. It's basically a labor of love with zero return on investment. That is why so many jazz guitar Blogs do not survive in the long run. Same for me. Apart from a waning motivation to write I started playing in two trios again, a Chet Baker Tribute and an Oscar Peterson Tribute Trio. With the latter trio we just published an album on Spotify. For those interested. I have embedded the album page below.

Back to the Blog. Not sure what to do with it and how to continue. I asked around for co authors but to no avail yet.

If you have any idea on how to continue it, please reply below this post. If no new insights emerge I think I will discontinue and delete the Blog in due course and go back to what I enjoy more, which is playing the guitar!

Thanks for reading the Blog over the years. It was fun while it lasted ...

  1. Even if you do not add new entries, I would not delete it as it is a useful resource!

  2. I don't read it as often as your FB posts. I am torn about listening to your new album on Spotify. (Joe Rogan controversy). I love your music and the progress you have made as a musician. I feel like you might need to rant sometime in the future.Keep the blog, keep swinging I'll continue to be your friend and fan whatever you decide. Play on!

  3. The content you have produced has been very helpful as well as inspiring in my struggle with jazz guitar! It would be shame to loose it. Good feeling on the recording!

  4. Thanks for all of the posts over the years! I urge you to keep everything online, because your writings can be a good resource to people in the future.

Just a suggestion, what about starting a Soundslice channel for transcriptions?

  5. I just discovered (perhaps re-discovered) your blog a few weeks ago and am a budding jazz guitarist. There is so much great content here! Even if you put it in 'maintenance mode' it's still a very valuable resource to people like me.

I hope you don't take it down, but I will respect your decision.

  6. Agree with everything that's been said by the other commenters. This blog is an awesome resource. Hope that you keep it going even if your posts are infrequent. If funds are an issue for upkeep, I'd imagine that folks might be willing to chip in via a GoFundMe or similar platform.

  8. It would be a shame to lose the awesome content you've accumulated through the years. Even if you don't update anymore, I agree with the others in hoping you find a way to preserve what you already have. Thank you for your contribution and I wish you well regardless of what you decide to do.

  9. Hi! Have really enjoyed your blog through the years (still do). Please don´t take down the allready published content, it´s such a valuable resource for us jazz guitar fans! Your blogposts and transcriptions have been really interesting, and I would suspect that many others feel the same even though people probably don´t give anywhere near the same feedback on blogs as they do on Youtube, Facebook, etc. I for one am sorry to not have given postive feedback earlier. But I really do appreciate the work you have put into this blog. Cheers from Norway. -Marius S

  10. Hi there! I've been a big fan of your blog for years now - it's an amazing resource for jazz guitarists - it so nice to find something covering so many great topics near and dear to jazzers hearts - it's nice to not have to wade through the bigger sponsored sites for their occasional jazz-adjacent posts (which are usually done by a rocker who knows a few 7 chords!)
Your blog has been a great source of info, licks, ideas, gear, listening etc etc
Agree 100% with what others are saying - if you can leave your existing posts up that would be amazing - You've done a great thing here and it would be a shame for it to disappear.
Best wishes with your groups they sound super fun!
Cheers from UK - Jeffrey H
